A family history
since 1911
A century of history and tradition united in a charming and beautiful hotel
Hotel Tobler was opened in 1911 as a small guesthouse by Johann Rudolf and Malvine Tobler-Scherrer, nestled among the vineyards of the small fishing village called Ascona.
In the 1930s, Theodor and Amalia Tobler-Blumer took over, managing the property until 1996. A few years before the turn of the millennium, management passed to Walter and Marianne Tobler. It is thanks to them that Hotel Tobler has become what it is today; in fact, it was Walter and Marianne Tobler who carried out the first renovation and expansion works, made use of the park surrounding the building, and established clear objectives and values for the business.

After more than 100 years in business, the hotel passed into the hands of Julia Tobler, the youngest daughter of Walter and Marianne Tobler, in 2016. Having graduated from Belvoirpark in Zurich in 2015, Julia Tobler took the reins of Hotel Tobler, becoming the youngest hotelier in Switzerland. “Arrive and feel at home” is the philosophy that distinguishes the hotel and has been passed down to the fourth generation, which we hope will continue for many years to come!
